Wrapped in Dark Rain

Noted Nest

By Gracie Tanna

The raindrops would

trickle down from my face,

as vines of loneliness sprout

within me—from the nape

of my neck, twisting and wrapping

themselves over my body, to my toes.

I realize that you were just

a hush of wind,

binding its frost

to the heart of mine.

I wished to flow with you,

but the gush was too fine

I know you just wanted to pass by.

Now, I wander alone

in the dark nights

of rain pouring down,

with nothing but the grace of you

I still treasure in my heart.
