Women's Plight

Noted Nest

By Almas Arif

Is there a world where freedom breathes,

Where violence fades and silence seethes?

I look above, where dreams take flight,

Yet glance below unchanged, the night.

Everywhere I see, the same dark tale,

Women bound in fear, their spirits frail.

They claim it’s the dress, too short, too bold,

But what of the child, innocent, cold?

They say stay in, don't roam at dusk,

Yet even inside, betrayal's husk.

Where is the safety, where is the light,

When shadows creep in broad daylight?

Is there a place, untouched by this pain,

Where justice reigns and hope remains?

A world where women walk unafraid,

Where strength and truth can never fade.

But as I search, my heart grows sore,

For here, and now, it’s as before.

Yet still, I dream of a future bright,

Where wrongs are right, and all is light.
