Who Am I ??

By Isha Dilshad

A stranger on the metro asked me, "Who are you?"

And in that moment, my thoughts just flew.

Who am I, I pondered, in this busy place?

A daughter to my parents, a friend with a smiling face.

A student to my teachers, learning day by day,

A sister to my brothers, in every single way.

But to the world, I wear a mask, a different role I play,

Each person sees a version, but is that really me, I say?

Why don’t I show my real self, let the truth be seen?

They call me Isha, but is that who I really mean?

Do I know the girl beneath the layers I’ve spun?

Or is she lost in shadows, hiding from the sun?

So, I turned to the stranger, with a smile so bright,

And answered softly, putting on my mask just right,

"I'm Isha," I said, as the train rolled away,

A name wrapped in mystery, in the roles I display.
