Noted Nest

By Aparna J

Temptation is a ruse offered by the Devil.

Leading the innocent into a trap laid by the evil.

Conmen are donning the mask of charm.

They intend to cause monetary harm.

How naive are we to take the bait?

We lose our money and blame our fate.

We fail to distinguish between a want and a need.

And end up being a victim of human greed .

We yearn for more wealth than we can manage.

We live in a world reeling under pressure that piles up like garbage.

The scamsters devise new ways to ensure their personal gain.

Losing our hard-earned money unceremoniously is such a pain.

Online scams happen in various forms.

Scamsters are never the sticklers for norms.

The bells of danger start jingling,

Sending shivers down your spine tingling.

From being a beneficiary of a stranger's will

To be declared a lucky draw winner, still,

Unsuspecting Victims derive great thrill.

And they plan to make a list of desires to fulfill.

Scammers would make great fiction writers for the tales that they spin.

They wriggle out sensitive banking information to process the victim's claims to win.

Beware of the online games that assure to pay you staggering amounts of money.

Their allure may tempt, but their promises are funny.

There are dubious contests and unrealistic sweepstakes.

Yielding to their temptations is a great mistake.

The need of the hour is the ability to spot the genuine from the fake.

When we develop this ability, life becomes a piece of cake.
