The Poisoned Temptation (Forbidden Fruit)

By Reia Dsouza

Warm summer nights,

Beneath the flickering lights,

A gloomy glow consumes you whole—

The red in your eyes,

An endless, starving fire,

To know, but never hold,

To taste your tempting kiss,

The sharp, forbidden edge of bliss.

Bane of my soul,

It has been told,

To reach your core

Is the story of my lore.

Prey to your presence,

To be undone, I crave,

The promise of a bite,

Sweet venom I cannot escape.

To taste your poison,

To make it my wine,

And when the bite is taken,

The choice no longer mine.

Will I fade into your shadow—

A whisper swallowed by time,

Or linger, cursed and trembling,

Bound to your dark, endless climb?
