The Numbed Soul

Noted Nest

By Yuvan Deb

The sadness inside me has been compressed within,

As deep as it ever was.

The happiness inside me has reached death,

As brutal as it will ever be.

Empty as I have ever been,

I ask myself,

How was it to feel?

The hopes now seem a distant dream,

As unreal as they ever were.

Jaded in life with its fatigue,

As consumed as I will ever be.

Numb as I have ever been,

I ask myself,

How was it to feel?

As I mourn my loss of ardor,

I ask myself,

How was it really like to feel?
