The Moonchild

The Moonchild

*This work is inspired by the Webtoon: Moonchild by OHNYUN

“Another human was devoured today,

Lord, these monsters will come again”

The villagers beg and they pray,

The Moon to take away all their pain.

And so was born a feeble soul,

He lifted his head and they smiled,

Pale and soft, fairest of them all,

They called him the beautiful Moonchild.

Sweet blood and tender heart,

Made them all weak and hungry,

The monsters ripped him apart,

But the villagers live happily.

His body heals and hides the pain,

The tears make it rain in his mind,

He has to save them and do it again

For the villagers, after all he’s the Moonchild.

And after every death and rebirth,

He carries the past lives like stars,

A lonely moon on this cruel earth,

One body and one soul with many heads and scars.

Monsters can’t kill him, but only a human,

My miserable creation, as the Moon calls him,

And so we are all a Moonchild to someone,

And this faith is what we share with him.
