The Last Journey

By Rishav Mantri

Through woods untouched by time, I tread,

Where chilling breezes whisper of the dead.

No sunlight breaks the canopy’s embrace,

I ponder if this journey is my final place.

The shadows question choices made alone,

Wondering if I’ll find peace or pain, unknown.

Yet solitude brings memories like a song,

Of a love once vibrant, now forever strong.

Years spent together, laughter intertwined,

Her spirit guides me, forever enshrined.

Nature's cruel hand took her far from sight,

Yet in my heart, she shines, a constant light.

With every step, I feel her near,

The warmth of our moments, so precious, so dear.

As I wander toward the beckoning trees,

I’m ready to meet her, to finally be free.

In the twilight of life, I embrace the call,

For love transcends, and I shall not fall.

The woods are alive with memories sweet,

As I walk hand in hand with her, our souls meet.

With each fading breath, I draw close to the light,

Where shadows disperse and hearts reunite.

No more longing, no more pain to bear,

In the arms of my love, I find my prayer.

So, a journey on, to the heavens above,

To reunite with my one and only love.

In the silence of dusk, I find my peace,

In the heart of the woods, my soul’s release.
