Tell Me

By Manasi Manchanda

Tell me about your childhood stories, not just the happy ones but the heartbreaking one, your innocence that tried to steal,

And I'll tell you the tales of my innocence being stolen, opening the eyes of a baby to the harsh reality of the world so real...

Tell me about your very first friend or the best friends you blindly trusted forever to stay,

But also tell me about the ones that broke your trust, growing apart as they walked away...

Tell me about those days away from home, when even a simple home cooked meal you missed and craved,

Tell me about the bread and butter you called a dinner, hoping at nights for the hunger to fade...

Tell me the furry tales of your pet baby, a constant friend and listener that never left your side,

But also tell me about the pain, when they passed away, leaving you with a massive void and tears that refused to dry...

Tell me about your crazy stories, as carefreely with friends you just focused on having some innocent and troublesome fun,

But also tell about the regrets you secretly hold of all the things you wished you shouldn’t have done...

And the first time you fell in love, exhilarated with butterflies in your tummy, when you thought that the right one in the first time you found,

But also, about your painful heartbreaks that left you skeptical about love and everything all around...

Talk to me about your hopes and dreams but also your heartbreaks and fears,

Your words are the safest with me, and we no longer have to hold back our tears...

Tell me about your silent struggles, big or small, over the years that you ceaselessly braved,

Tell me about those lonesome nights, when the presence of someone, the love and care you desperately craved...

Tell me the aching story behind the fleeting sadness for long concealed behind your smile,

Tell me all and everything from your sweet lips, don't hesitate because there is a lot being already revealed by your eyes...

I want to hear your entire story and share with you some of mine,

Hold your hand, look into your eyes, and my eyes telling you that we'll be just fine...
