Standing on the bridge of no end.
My friend and I debate the world’s ways.
Sitting on the edge, we gaze,
Admiring the sky’s endless haze.
We see a figure on the other side.
Our imaginations run wild, wonder “what’s beyond the tide”
is it just river flowing to infinity?
or a secret home hidden from humanity?
Who is that figure we ask and guess?
An animal hunting for survival?
A lady lost in sea-- beholding dreams?
A monster who feeds humanity?
Or possibly an old man ready to swing his cane if someone harms his beloved ones?
A lion who left his kingdom free from a crown burden?
A cat with a mouse, his mighty friend,
A tired bird resting after a long hunt of food for his children?
Perhaps Kids playing hide and seek, or
Lovers with their drinks?
Divorced parents with their son waiting for the day to end?
As sunset approaches, dinners await,
“What’s cooking at your place” I asked my only friend.
She shrugs; we guess,
Letting our imaginations take over once again.
Parting ways in neighbourhood,
the day is done.
I made a new friend.
