In the annals of our planet's past,
Lies a story of power, conquest amassed.
Colonial flags unfurled, across distant lands,
Bearing witness to exploitation's hands.
From towering forests to oceans wide,
Colonial ambitions knew no guide.
They plundered resources, heedless and blind,
Leaving ecosystems shattered behind.
The rhythms of nature were disrupted by force,
As colonial powers charted their course.
Forests fell and rivers dammed,
Echoes of conquest in every land.
But the price of their triumph, we now bear,
In the choking haze of polluted air.
In rising seas and melting ice,
The consequences of their sacrifice.
For colonialism's legacy still lingers,
In the cries of endangered creatures' singers.
In the loss of biodiversity's grace,
A scar upon our planet's face.
Yet in this tale of greed and strife,
Lies the chance for a different life.
To learn from the past, to heal and restore,
To ensure that history repeats no more.
For the link between colonialism's reign,
And ecological crises, stark and plain.
Reminds us of our duty, clear and true,
To protect the Earth for me and you.
