The hilltop seemed a mile away
The path was rough, to my dismay
Fear crept in, taking its toll
Holding us tight, stealing our soul.
A whisper said, “You can’t succeed,”
Trapped me in my own misdeeds
The voice grew louder without a sound
“You were better off in your hometown.”
She stepped in, held my hand,
“So what if things don’t go as planned?”
We must step forth, face our fright
Trust ourselves with all our might.
We trudged on, onwards, upwards
Fueled by the strength of her words
The majestic peak soon in sight
All my fears now seemed so slight.
Stronger than the fear we feel
Our hearts and minds can always heal
For we are powerful, and we shall see
Fear is not a shackle, and we are free.
