Perfect Was Us

Noted Nest

By Aarayna Sambyal

reminiscing old times

scrolling past hours and hours worth of texts

“i love you” and “sorry” that seem far too bittersweet looking at it from the point

of just a memory.

well would i have thought of it differently if i knew what was coming at me?

things would change, we would still be perfect.

but maybe one way or other perfect things do break.

“i love you more” perhaps is just a sentence and nothing more,

at the time felt like it really did matter, really did mean it

perhaps it was true, just maybe wasn’t meant for me and you,

and perhaps it is, still not quite sure.

but perfect was the time,

perfect was us,

probably can’t say the same anymore.
