Peace

By Reece Lopes

What is peace? I cannot define

I can feel when it is with me, I can feel when it is not.

I know I need it; I know it doesn’t care.

I know it is not going to lower its standards for me,

And if you come to think of it, it’s only fair.

Peace has its own mountains to maintain

Peace has its own valleys to protect.

To protect itself from people trying to grab it,

And I am one of those.

To have peace and to maintain it, is a very difficult task.

One who finds peace in himself and has the ability to harness and radiate its energy has found True Peace.

Peace, the word seems simple yet wars were fought to restore it,

Peace I need in me, expense I am willing to pay but I don't know what it wants.

I behave, I obey, I carry out my duties duly,

I help, I support, I am sincere in it truly.

I take care of my family, I take care of my fortune

I take care of my responsibilities even if those and myself are in no tune.

Peace is an important aspect to live life and to sustain

Peace should be preserved all around us and peace should be maintained.

And I realised, for me to stay sane

I need,

Peace in my surrounding

I need peace in the world,

Peace, I need everywhere but I should be at peace with me first.

Peace I need in me, expense I am willing to pay but I don't know what it wants,

Does it even want me to stay sane?

And I realise it is no enemy of mine,

It will come,

It will come in time,

It will come when it knows I am ready to embrace what's mine.

And I pray to be kissed by peace, prior receiving the Kiss of death.
