Partition- A Tale Not Forgotten

By Dishita Melkani

India was finally free

From the cruel British presidency

But this joy won't last anymore

As there was another horror, knocking on the door

This is a tale of horror and pain

All the joy was washed away by this hurricane

The efforts of unity went into vain

In history this tragic event still remains

These traumatic episodes are hard to believe

Stories filled with violence and grief

The partition was intended for peace

But it widened the gap among the communities

As soon as the partition was announced

The nation was filled with bloodshed and riots broke out

People were displaced from their homes

They didn't have anywhere to go

Women were raped, children were killed

Humanity was completely extinct

Terrorising and fearful was that time

Everywhere there were crimes

Oh! The great leaders of my country

Why didn't you stop such a controversy

You had the power and the wisdom

You could have protected the people of our kingdom

This was the tale of horror and pain

Let's pay tribute to the sufferers of this horrifying reign

We will remember this controversy

Now let's live the present and forget this terrorising history.
