A lonely duckling floats, aimlessly in a pond
Abandoned by its brethren, searches for a cause
Confused about its future, explores the great beyond
Tattered and unsure, how to overcome its loss
It has wings but is afraid to fly
Scared of becoming Icarus in the sky
The pond floods, pushing it to the river
Gets swept away, succumbs to a shiver
Engulfed by powerful currents
It struggles to keep itself afloat
Besieged by plaguing deterrents
Its misery has no antidote
Washed onto the shore, battered and bruised
The lonely duckling, is lost and confused
Unable to make sense of its situation
It begins questioning its own creation
Wonders what will help mitigate the pain
To make things worse, the sky unleashes rain
A lonely duckling waddles, aimlessly on the shore
Lost in its thoughts, watches the rain pour
