Kolkata's Knight

By Simran Goel

In Kolkata's Shadow

A light was dimmed,

Where joy bloomed, now darkness brimmed,

Though freedom’s dawn was fiercely claimed,

A bitter cost left unproclaimed.

A lady strong, beyond compare,

In battles fought, she stood with care,

Yet power stole her final breath,

The world just shrugged; it seemed her death.

Her body scarred, her spirit torn,

Innocence lost, left bruised and worn.

The monster's grip, the cruel embrace,

Bones shattered in that tragic space.

Names like Nirbhaya, Priyanka, Gudiya,

From Unnao, Hyd, Ajmer, Kathua,

A child of ten, an elder’s fate,

An infant crushed beneath that weight.

Thousands raped and lives erased,

While justice weeps, its voice displaced.

The heavens mourn, the earth turns red,

Few daughters live, others caged
