I Took A Walk This Sunday Evening

By Lalhriat Kima

I took a walk this Sunday evening

On the street where first we met

Busy people with their loud vehicles

Cause me to remember you whom I am yearning

On the street where first we met

Where many times wildly we have had giggles

A simple ‘I miss you’ isn’t enough

Not nearly enough to express my desire

To see that pretty face of yours

I know our times together have been tough,

But my wings of love flew for you ever higher.

Thus, ‘I want your fragrance on mine’, I’ll say to your ears

I watched two butterflies dancing in the air

They reminded me of us

I saw two flowers swaying with the winds

They reminded me of us

My cat plays around with his cat girlfriend

They reminded me of us

I need you like night needs the moon

I need you like day needs the sun

For you I’ll be the fool

I wait eagerly, hoping to see you soon

For your sake, a thousand miles I’ll run

Oh, for you I have become the fool
