On a Monday morning, snug in my bed,
I was grabbed by Timmy who kissed my head.
“ Oh, dear ”I thought” what’s the rush today?”
“Surely this hamster deserves some say.”
He stuffed me in his bag ,with barely a care,
Between his smelly socks and underwear.
I bounced around with pencil and glue,
Wondering what on earth we are about to do.
The bus ride was wild, a true hamster fright,
I bounced with each bump, clutching on tight.
Then a lurch sent me flying, on what a show.
Landing in his lunch box ,with some crumbs below.
At school , it got worse, a genuine wreck,
I ended up tangled in a kid’s thick neck.
“ Hamster lose !” they cried , a scene of pure fun,
As a scurried , past legs making a run.
I dashed through the halls, avoiding each shoe ,
Until I slipped in someone’s spilled glue.
Kids laughed and cheered, and I squeaked in dread,
As I tumbled into a teacher’s tea ,head first instead.
Now soaked and sticky, smelly like tea,
Timmy found me looking a bit queasy.
He dried me off with a towel so nice ,
And slipped me back into his backpack twice.
Home at last ,in my cage, safe and sound,
From a day full of chaos all around.
Timmy swore ,”no more school for you my chum”
And I sighed in relief, gnawing on my crumb.
So I’ll stay here cosy ,in my little spot,
Happy to avoid the schoolyard’s plot.
For the adventures of a school , I’ll pass by ,
And stay here with my wheel , under Timmy’s watchful eye.
