In the stillness of twilight, the air grew thin,
A whisper of autumn brushed my skin.
Your silhouette, soft against the fading light,
Hesitant footsteps, resisting the night.
Eyes met briefly, a shared silent plea,
Time's cruel advance, relentless as the sea.
Lips parted, words caught in the breeze,
Goodbye lingered, an unspoken tease.
The weight of moments, memories vast,
Pressed against us, shadows of the past.
A touch, a sigh, the world held its breath,
In that space, between life and death.
Fingers slipped from a delicate grasp,
Clinging to echoes, to make the moment last.
Heartbeats drummed, a solemn refrain,
Echoing softly, a familiar pain.
No promises, no vows to renew,
Just the simple truth, we both knew.
Paths diverging, the journey apart,
A bittersweet pull, the ache of the heart.
As dawn whispered secrets to the skies,
I turned away, tears in my eyes.
Yet in that farewell, a silent grace,
Love remains, no time can erase.
So, here's to goodbyes, tender and true,
A chapter ending, but never the view.
For in each farewell, a story we weave,
In every goodbye, we find how to grieve.
