After two years of online classes and sitting at home
There was a feeling of apprehension yet excitement in my bones
Meeting friends, staff and teachers face-to-face
My heart beating fast and my brain not keeping up the pace.
As a kid, I hadn’t thought I would miss school
The halo’d corridors, the noise bustle and the cool
I longed for the peace and quiet of the library
Surrounded by books and untold mysteries
My mouth watered thinking of Raman’s famous Idly Fry
And Kanayalal’s yummy garlic bread for which I would die.
The rustle of papers, the noise of girls
Snapping of scissors plus paper curls
Bright colours as well as paintings on the walls
Reminded me of art class and the event hall.
I was wondering how my teacher would be
Strict, linnet, kind and oh so free
Whether I would get to sit with my best friend
Or be able to stand up as a class rep in the end
I want to be a class topper and give my best
So with heart thumping and tight chest
I approached my school – Oh So Glorious J.B. Petit.
I did drool!
