Clothes

Noted Nest

By Snigdha

Synchronizing with the current scenario of the society I've written this piece for every woman who faces these horrors every minute of her life. Ranging from domestic violence , eating disorder , self harm , racism and the never ending cases like nirbhaya and rgkar . The poem describes how a woman so gracefully tries to camouflage her deep seated horrors by the the way she dresses

A souvenir she carries,

The scars and the bruises

The fairy tales she read ,

It's all stardust and stories!

The bolts covering her arms ,

A river running through them.

Silk gently patting the memories,

Seeking solace in the mulberry threads.

The rib cage is no longer caged,

Very visible in the summer rays.

Cotton sheltering the gracious set of bones

And every humanly feature she owns.

The caramel brown vivid tones ,

Camouflaged with the earth itself .

Shimmering satin compléments her sarcasm ,

Coming from the dictionary of Chandler Bing

A heart under her skin ,

Which only knows the Language of love

Too kind for even the sinned ,

With a patchwork of woolen shelter above

Cursing the missing streaks on her hand ,

An alibi for the miseries !

The delicate threads masking the secrets of her body

Fearing that one day she'll be exposed !!

No one knows when women started wearing clothes to hide themselves from life .

From Adam n Eve ,

To 2023

From a naked journey ,

To covering flesh n bones .

We came too far  !!
