Childhood

By Swastika Sheel Srivastava

Isn’t it great?

Staring out of the window

When it’s raining

And your favourite song’s playing

With hot coffee in your hand

And you close your eyes

And remember your childhood

Your friends, your school,

The playground, the swings,

The stream where the paper boats sailed

Those paper boats soon became real ones,

And we all sailed away from each other

The dream of being together forever,

Our own house, our garden,

Looking out of the window,

I realized,

Our dreams were far from reality,

The laughter, the games,

The summer vacations,

It made me realize,

Childhood was the best time

And I hope every kid lives it to their fullest

Because the future is unpredictable,

But childhood is,

The dream every adult wants to live again.
