Bound By Nature

Noted Nest

By Irani

I am a moth.

Drawn to a flame that will inevitably kill me.

Though I know that it will hurt

It is in my nature to go toward it.

I envy the butterflies that bathe in sweet nectar.

I wish to be marvelled at by innocent eyes.

While I battle with my subconscious

I try to fight the hypnotizing yellow and orange that calls my name.

But in the end, I am a moth.

I cannot change what nature dictates.
