Begin Again

Noted Nest

By Amina Nazir

And we begin,

like toddlers,

taking their first steps...

pensive,

eager.

To befriend gravity,

learning-

relearning

the ins and outs of friendship.

And we'll run and reel,

step and stumble,

fall and flounder.

for the ground

unwavering and loyal

will catch you.

……..And so we begin again,

like toddlers,

entering foreign lands...

with reliable footing.

To love the dirt,

face hard

against that rich,

callous terrain.

To love the air,

as it beats

as it rushes

as it caresses

as it ceases.
