All Love Stories

By Adithi Vijaya Kumar

We live our entire lives in anticipation. In hopes of an improved reality, a new beginning, or a fresh start. As individuals, we are taught to constantly renew ourselves, outperform and succeed. This constant competition creates such inherent insecurity and discomfort. Are we ever truly comfortable with ourselves? Silence and solitude provide necessary spiritual insight we often drown out with work or academics, but this eventually leaves you feeling disconnected and lost.

Amidst this constant search for fulfilment and joy, love is what grounds us. Instant gratification has overdosed our brain with so much dopamine, that we always feel this lack afterwards, like a hungover man looking for the next bottle. But love is our only prayer for true satisfaction. I am not talking about a person, feeling, or even a place, but rather an energy that should flow within all of us. Love can obviously be given and received, but we never learn to create it within ourself. Everyone imagines love as the adrenaline-fueled frantic obsession or tragic longing, but I have always seen it as a constant. The love you have for yourself, your life and what you create never goes anywhere, and brings you peace of mind. This self-care goes beyond skincare routines and exhausting workouts, but rather is a mindset which helps you flourish.

Love helps you grow and heal, and is the ultimate restoring power in the universe. It is the empathy you have for yourself and the ambition towards your goals. Learning to create a wholesome and rewarding life is essential before searching for love in friendships, family or a partner. This love story you create for yourself has you alone as the main character, everyone else may come and go but learning to create value for your own life will guarantee you the happy-ever-after that we all yearn for.
