10 years of our lives is what we gave
To serve the people of our nation
Now, from them, ourselves we must save
What is it that brought us to this situation
With every drop of sweat, blood and tear
We prepared to save lives
Now we are standing within locked doors, cowering in fear
Trying to escape those with knives
‘Twas not so long ago
That we were praised and revered
Now they have let their morals go
Our beautiful relation severed
It is not easy for us
To break bad news to those who wait
We too care for our patients
Then why are their eyes filled with hate?
We too want to save everyone
But that is not always possible
Till their very last breath, through the hospital we run
And what we get in return is deplorable
10 years of our lives is what we gave
Learning every artery and vein
But reading these episodes of violence
Our every effort seems to have been in vain
10 years of our lives is what we gave
To bring thousands out of pain
By bruising and battering us till we cave
What is it that they gain?
10 years of our lives is what we gave
And 10 more we are ready to give
If a path to peace we must pave
Then we must learn to forgive
It’s time for them to understand
That we give our level best
To treat us like humans
Would now be their ultimate test
